Principal's Corner - September 2021
Hello Families! We are so happy and excited to be returning to school this fall full time with all of our Superstars! If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to reach out to our front office. You may also visit our school website: https://www.prospectpointsuperstars.org/.
Information will be coming home in your child's backpack during the first week of school regarding classroom technology.
If you child is in grades 3-5, they will need to plan to bring their Chromebook to school and home daily.
DAILY INSTRUCTION SCHEDULE:
School begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students may arrive beginning at 7:45 a.m.
On Wednesday, school dismisses at 1:40 p.m. to allow for teacher collaboration time.
Please note that all playgrounds are CLOSED at arrival times. Students should go straight to their assigned classroom, or to the cafeteria if they need breakfast, when they arrive.
WALKERS & SAFETY:
We have increased crossing supervision at the intersection of Abbott and Howard Streets and at Howard and Reser Road. There are two adults to help your child safely cross.
Please assist us in helping your child understand how to navigate this crossing if they are a walker or a biker. Students should get off of their bike while they wait for the crossing guard, and walk their bike across the street once our staff have stopped traffic.
School lunches remain free to all students. In addition, breakfast is available each school day beginning at 7:45 a.m.
Walla Walla Public Schools utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to keep parents and staff informed through telephone calls, e-mails, and text messages regarding important school information. School Messenger notification services also include a mobile app and an expansion of district social media capabilities. Parents and staff have the option of opting out of receiving general messages, updating contact information, and signing up to receive text messages. For step-by-step instructions, please visit the school district website: http://www.wwps.org/departments/communications/schoolmessenger and click on the SchoolMessenger logo.
PTO AND YOU:
The Prospect Point PTO is an amazing group of parent volunteers whose work and support of our school and its activities have provided students with a rich learning experience. We are always looking for new volunteers to help carry on the traditions of the past and help build new traditions for the future. If you are creative, enthusiastic, and able to lend a helping hand, WE NEED YOU!
PTO officers this year are Amy Hansen, President; Megan Holbrook, Vice-President; Heather Robinson, Secretary; and Sue Walton, Treasurer. There are many ways you can show your support for our school and PTO.
- Become a member of our PTO! If you have questions about how to do this, please contact the office.
- Volunteer to help with sponsored activities at school (once we are able to facilitate these activities) (i.e. Miles Club, FunD Run Fundraiser, Field Day, Art Night). This is a great way to meet other parents and make friendships that can last a lifetime!
- Box Tops for Education (BTFE) is one of the nation’s largest school fundraising programs. Last year, the Box Tops for Education program transitioned into a digital system. When you see the Box Tops logo on many of the products you purchase for your family at the grocery store, you will be able to scan the BTFE purchase on your receipt from your phone using the BTFE app that you can download from the App Store or on Google Play. Every 50 Box Tops collected earns our school $5 in cash!! For more information about the BTFE program, you can go to: www.boxtops4education.com.
Wishing you well,
